Like any other sports, golf requires that you be properly equipped to be able to play the game correctly.

Golf clubs are sold in sets and individually.  For players that are new to the game a set of clubs provides a good selection of what is needed to start. However, before choosing a set of golf clubs honestly assess your playing interest in the game.  You may want to start out with a lower priced set until you determine if you like the game enough to play often.

Manufacturers are always coming out with new designs and new materials for golf clubs, but it’s not essential for a new golfer to be concerned with cutting edge technology when it comes to clubs.  Instead, focusing on the basics and setting a budget will ensure you don't go beyond what you wanted to spend.

Golf clubs prices range from inexpensive to very expensive.  Until the beginner learns more about the game and how to play it’s probably wise to opt for the lower to mid price ranges. It is easy to add more clubs to your bag later.

All golf manufacturers offer golf club sets.  The typical set of golf clubs consists of one or two woods, a driver, 4 irons a putter and a sand wedge or pitching wedge. The most used irons are the 3, 5, 7 and 9 irons.  Most beginning players won't notice much difference between the others.

Men's golf clubs are designed to fit men whose height is 5' 10". If your height varies considerably from this standard you may need to get your clubs customized.

Manufactures invest millions of pounds in testing and developing new golf clubs, including improvements in technology concerning the composition, sweet spot, size, launch angle, forgiveness. A vast selection is now available on the market and finding the right club can be a difficult decision. Today, more than ever we are spoilt for choice.

	Golf Sets The rules of golf allow you to carry fourteen clubs in a bag and a standard set of golf clubs consists of twelve clubs 3 woods, 8 irons and a putter. More experienced golfers make up their bag with an extra iron or a specialty wood.
	Drivers To many the most important club in their bag is the driver and it seems that more development has gone into this club than any other and is the established club carried by most golfers.
	Woods Although the woods were originally made from wood they are now manufactured from differing materials, including steel, carbon fiber and titanium and are the long-distance clubs. These days the name signifies the shape and anticipated use on the golf course rather than the material they are made from.

Irons

	Irons Irons come in a variety of types with different specifications and the Golf Bag can include 8-9 of them. They are the most necessary and fundamental part of the game of golf.
	Wedges Wedges are specialty irons and include the Pitching Wedge, Approach or Gap Wedge Sand Wedge, Lob or High Lob Wedge and the Last Wedge. Many Professional golfers now carry 4 or 5 wedges in their bag.
	Putters Putters come in numerous shapes and sizes, and whereas there are many distinctive designs it is essential for a golfer to find a putter that is comfortable.
